A full navigation app, built on MapMap.

MapMap Nav is a complete turn-by-turn app: one Expo and React Native codebase, iOS and Android from the same source, offline-first on real roads, and yours to fork, rebrand and ship. It is the reference for what you can build on the MapMap SDKs.

What it does

Everything a driver needs. Nothing you can’t own.

Real maps, spoken guidance and the routing that fleets actually need, all rendered and computed by the MapMap SDKs the app is built on. Fork it and every one of these is already wired up.

Guidance

Turn-by-turn that talks

Spoken directions, lane guidance and roundabout exits drawn at the true angle. Pass the limit and a chime sounds; leave the route and the 3D chase camera reroutes from where you are.

The differentiator

Truck & ADR routing, on the device

Height, weight, length and axle load shape the route in the costing itself. Set the ADR tunnel category (A–E) and restricted tunnels are avoided before the line is drawn.

Offline

Whole countries in your pocket

Offline search, routing and voice guidance, all on the device. Signed territory packages; your location never leaves the phone.

Safety cameras

Camera alerts that keep their cool

UK fixed cameras appear along your route with the enforced limit where known. Calm within the limit, urgent over it. Ireland is rolling out.

Branding

Real maps, your brand

Recolour the palette in Studio and drop your logo on the map. It ships looking like your product, not a generic base map.

Interaction

Tap to route anywhere

Tap any point and the pin resolves to a real street or address. Search by place or postcode, save Home and Work, set avoid tolls or motorways.

SwitchKeep my road
Smarter en route

Faster routes, offered not forced

If a faster route turns up mid-drive the app offers it. Switch with a tap, or dismiss it and keep the road you chose.

Planning

Reachable-area isochrones

Draw where you can get to inside a chosen time budget on foot, by bike or by car, computed by the same engine that does the routing.

Free to start

An account is just an email

The app issues a personal API key from nothing more than an email address; maps, search and routing work immediately. Verify the email and offline downloads unlock, with a monthly allowance free.

In control

Zoom without losing your place

Zoom during guidance and the camera keeps following your position. Pinch to look closer and it still follows; re-centre resumes at the zoom you chose.

The same SDK, in the driver’s hand.

Not mock-ups: captures from the running app. On-map controls for zoom, layers and orientation sit exactly where a driver expects them, over a real MapMap base map.

Nothing here you couldn’t build too.

MapMap Nav uses only the published MapMap SDKs and the public docs, exactly what every customer has. There is no private API and no special access. It is a worked example of the platform, so what you see is what you can ship.

One codebase

Expo & React Native, iOS + Android

A single Expo and React Native codebase builds both apps. No separate Swift and Kotlin front-ends to keep in step.

One bridge

mapmap-react-native, over the native SDKs

A thin mapmap-react-native bridge sits over the native MapMap navigation SDKs, so the routing, rendering and offline packages run natively while your app logic stays in TypeScript.

Download, test, build on it

Run it. Test it. Make it yours.

MapMap Nav is available today as an early-access download for Android, and the same app is the reference you can run, fork and ship as your own. It is not yet on the App Store or Play Store; the Android build installs directly as an APK.

The full MapMap navigation app: online maps, search and routing from the moment you sign in with an email, and full offline navigation once you verify the email and download a territory, with a monthly download allowance included free. See the build guide for the details.

Sideload install: Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser or file manager (“unknown sources”). An iOS build is in development.

Download the boilerplate (.zip)

The complete Expo and React Native turn-by-turn nav app, source-only. Unzip it, cp .env.example .env, add a MapMap API key, npm install, then npx expo start. It runs on the JS mock with live MapMap online tiles, so you can test the whole flow: search, route, turn-by-turn, without a native build. A native build needs the MapMap SDKs; see the build guide below.
