Navigation you listen to.
Tellway speaks your directions in a recorded voice. There is no map on the screen while you drive. Type where you are going, put the phone in its holder, and listen.

What it does.
Everything on this page is in the first release.
Type it once.
Search for a place or a full UK postcode, or pick Home, Work or a recent trip. A postcode typed in full comes first. With an offline area downloaded, routes are worked out on the phone.

What it checked, before you go.
The preview gives the distance and arrival time, and says whether there are reported incidents on National Highways’ roads in England along the way. Set an arrival time and it tells you when to leave. Arrive by needs a connection.

The screen rests. The voice carries on.
At the start the controls are lit: Quiet, Repeat that, What’s ahead, Screen rests, End drive. After a few seconds the screen rests and shows only the next direction and your arrival time. Tap to bring the controls back. Hold to speak for short requests: what is ahead, repeat that, mute, or to report a closed road or roadworks. If traffic slows, it may ask “Slow here. Is it a queue?” and listen for five seconds for your answer, at most three times a drive, on phones that recognise speech on the device. Nothing is recorded or sent.

A simple picture of the junction ahead.
For roundabouts and motorway exits, a simple picture, not to scale, shows which exit to take while the voice says it.

Every screen.
Captured from the release build.

Questions.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. There are no in-app purchases.
- Which phones?
- iPhone and Android phones.
- Does it need a signal?
- Routes need a connection unless you have downloaded an offline area, which needs a verified email address. Common directions are bundled with the app; road names are fetched when you choose a route.
- Do I need an account?
- No. You can skip the email address when you first open the app. A verified email is needed to download offline areas.
- What leaves my phone?
- Hold to speak and the queue question are recognised on the phone; nothing is recorded or sent. Searches and route requests go to MapMap’s servers. The privacy policy lists each one.
- Does it work on the car’s screen?
- Not in this release.
